Our aim is for the curriculum on offer to the pupils to be as broad, creative, balanced, inclusive and stimulating as possible. This in tandem with a desire and drive for the children to become independent and imaginative thinkers informs our curriculum development.
Our policy on learning and teaching is seen as a constantly developing one. We strive to make learning an active process through the use of discussion, fostering a collegiate atmosphere between peers and pupils and adults, developing talk for learning and the use of ICT to enhance and support the learning and teaching process.
At the beginning of each term all parents receive a letter enabling families to be involved and informed about the topics and projects to be covered that term.
We hold parents' evenings in autumn and spring terms, when time is allocated for to discuss the children's progress and next steps in detail with the class teachers. The final parents' evening held in the summer term is an open evening where all classes show some of their best work and assembly performances.
One of our most recent exciting developments at Ley Hill School is the creation of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). This is a safe online area for learning for our pupils. We hope that it will help to enthuse our children, by allowing them to reinforce lessons seen in the classroom, improve their knowledge and encourage them to take part in learning for life.
